With its 1,456 metres, Mt Grosser Arber is the highest peak in the Bavarian Forest. And in winter, it’s a whole different world. Groomed slopes of all difficulty levels, a snowboard fun park, and ArBär kids’ land for families. Stefan’s tip: set off early, be the first to make tracks in the snow, and pause briefly at the top. The view takes care of the rest.
The Bayerwald cross-country ski trail runs right through Frauenau. 150km, one of the longest cross-country ski trails in Germany. Diana’s tip: the route towards Spiegelau when there’s fresh snow, when the forest is still untouched and there’s hardly anyone else out and about apart from you.
Our sauna area regularly becomes a place of ritual. The scent of herbs, warm stones, the gentle hissing of the infusion, and afterwards a detour to the ice fountain for the truly brave. In winter it’s even better. More pleasant.
