Summer holidays in Bavaria. Absolutely wonderful.

There are summers you never forget. These are usually the ones where you don’t know where the day has gone. In the Bavarian Forest National Park, time flies: a forest path here, a summit there, an evening meal that you’ll want to savour slowly. Hotel Eibl-Brunner is situated right in the heart of this world. And we’d love for you to join us for your summer holidays in Bavaria.

Summer holidays in Bavaria at Eibl-Brunner

In summer, home is where you …

Woman smiling while drinking coffee at breakfast table with man blurred in foreground
… can smell the fragrance of coffee even before you open your eyes.

A breakfast buffet with everything your heart desires – and the Bavarian Forest greeting you from outside the window first thing in the morning.

Forest with small waterfall, stream and hiking trail with signpost
… take the forest path that Stefan recommended.

130km of hiking trails start right outside the hotel. Or you could hop on an e-bike. Both are fine.

Woman relaxing with drink on terrace, barefoot man sitting on chair
… sit with tired legs at afternoon tea.

Fresh salads, hearty snacks, a slice of cake. Outside, summer is in full swing. Inside, it’s cool and cosy.

Gourmet dish with fish fillet, vegetables and sauce on a white plate on a gravel surface
… can simply enjoy a five-course meal.

With every course, the table grows quieter. Not because nobody is speaking, but because everyone is indulging.

Summer in Bavaria: walking holidays with activities for everyone

Hiking and Nordic walking

Get out of bed, slip on your walking boots, and just set off. 130km of well-signposted trails around Frauenau, many starting right outside Eibl-Brunner. The Schachten trails in the national park are particularly beautiful: quiet clearings, primeval forest, and the feeling of being truly far away. When you come home in the evening, you know: that was a good day.

Cycling and mountain biking

Pedal through the Flanitz valley, past streams and meadows that you only find here. Or head up into the low mountain ranges, where the trails become more challenging and the views are spectacular. The Adalbert Stifter Cycle Route and the Grüne Dach are among the most beautiful cycle routes in the Bavarian Forest. And our e-bikes make even longer rides a real pleasure.

Golf and more

The Oberzwieselau golf park is right next door: 18 holes, 100 hectares, a 400-year-old avenue of trees, and panoramic views of the rolling Bavarian Forest landscape. Golf doesn’t get much better than this. And for those who want to make the most of the summer: fishing on tranquil lakes, Kneipp therapy, horse riding along idyllic trails, or the major regional festivals such as the “Glastage” on Mt Zwiesel, the “Pichelsteinerfest” in Regen, and the “Säumerfest” in Grafenau. Summer here has so many different sides to it that one holiday is never enough.

Our favourite summer moments –

Our favourite hike

The climb up to Mt Grosser Rachel isn’t for the faint-hearted, but that’s exactly why it’s worth it. Once you reach the top, you’ll marvel at the Bavarian Forest stretching out below you and realise why we never wanted to leave this place. Stefan’s tip: set off early, pack a snack, and just sit in silence when you reach the top. The forest tells the rest of the story.

Pedal through the Flanitz valley, past the kind of streams and meadows that you only find here. Diana’s tip: set off early, while the morning mist still hangs over the meadows, and then put your tired legs up for an afternoon snack.

Our insider tip: Mt Falkenstein

1,315m, with wonderful views of the holiday region, followed by a cosy stop for refreshments at the mountain hut just below the summit. One of those days when, come evening, you can’t quite figure out where the time has gone.
